The risks we address

Quarrying and processing natural stone involves fine dust, high noise levels, heavy loads, and large machinery. Poorly managed, each of these presents a risk to workers. Our standards are designed to control them at the source.

The risks we address

Factory review before any order

Before we place an order, we review each factory’s permits and certifications and inspect its quarry and processing plant. We expect documented safety management systems, regular worker training, appropriate protective equipment, and monitoring of dust and noise exposure.

Factory review before any order

Incident management

Factories must record every workplace incident, investigate its cause, and show the corrective action taken. Workers must be able to report a safety concern without penalty, and management must act on it.

Environmental compliance

Environmental compliance carries equal weight. Partner factories hold valid environmental permits, manage process water and stone waste in line with local regulations, and follow a quarry rehabilitation plan so the land can be restored when extraction ends.

Safety and quality

Safety and quality management share the same discipline: documented procedures, trained people, and records that can be audited. A factory that controls its safety risks is better placed to control tolerances, finishes, and batch consistency, which our customers depend on in every shipment.

Ongoing review

We review these standards on a regular schedule throughout the relationship. Continued business with Reidstone depends on meeting them, and we end relationships with factories that do not. Customers and specifiers can request permits and certificates for the factory producing their order.
